January 8, 2018How to Start your Business in Florida: Part 3 Creation and Registration of the Name
January 9, 2018Hello parents, we are back to school for the second half of the school year 17 – 18, and as you know the most stressful season for your child because the Florida State Assessments (FSA) are on their way.
As a teacher I see everyday the struggles and challenges students face in school; peer pressure, distractions, bullying, and a lot of other factors that affect their learning experience, such as problems at home, financial situations, etc…
But one of the most stressful experiences they go through are the FSA’s, students are tested in different subject areas, such as Math, English, Reading, and then you can add the EOC’s for Geometry, Social Studies, Science, etc.. The problem I see with testing is that teachers are focused on results on those tests and not on the child learning and mastering the subject.
With students being distracted by so many things it’s hard for some of the students to keep their attention on what’s being teach in class and they miss a lot of information that they need to pass those tests.
An alternative that you have is enrolling your children in after school programs, but they are expensive.
Here are free suggestions for your child to work at home, the good news? It’s FREE!
These are the websites that you can use to help your child succeed in 2018:
- Khan Academy (FREE)– Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. They tackle Math, Science, Computer Programming, History, Art History, Economics, etc. In addition they have Test Reviews for the SAT, MCAT, GMAT, and more.
- Code Academy (FREE) – Codecademy is an education company. But not one in the way you might think. They’re committed to building the best learning experience inside and out, making Codecademy the best place for our team to learn, teach, and create the online learning experience of the future.
- Typing Club (FREE) – TypingClub is the most effective way to learn how to type. It is web based, and highly effective. TypingClub is (and will always be) free for both individuals and schools.
With these 3 Websites you should be able to give your child the extra help they need. As a teacher I can tell you that behind every a successful student, there is an involved parent, so take action now since testing starts in 2 months testing starts and your child needs to be prepared.
