February 15, 2024While February brings chilly weather to much of the nation, Miami is heating up with the arrival of the 55th edition of the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show. Running from today until February 18, this year’s show promises family-friendly fun just in time for the President’s Day weekend.
From spectacular vessels like Jeff Bezos’ $500 million megayacht, the Koru, to over 1,000 other boats and yachts on display, the event offers an up-close look at some of the world’s most magnificent maritime creations.
“The annual timing of the show is perfect,” says Michael Orchard, a yacht broker with Sanlorenzo Americas. “A buyer can basically purchase a new boat off the ‘lot’ [at the show], and finish the winter in Florida and the Bahamas.”
But it’s not just about boats; the event boasts a plethora of experiences. Attendees can explore power boats, motor yachts, sailboats, and catamarans, along with engines and sailing accessories across six integrated sites.
Moreover, the show isn’t just for seasoned boaters. It offers a complete experience highlighting the best of the marine world, including a pickleball court for guests to enjoy and various educational seminars.
“This year’s show is anticipated to deliver a windfall not just to boating fans, but to the city of Miami as well,” says Jonathan Chapman, president and CEO of the Florida Association of Community Health Centers.
Among the highlights are the superyachts at Yacht Haven Grande Miami at Island Gardens, where visitors can marvel at luxurious vessels, some exceeding 300 feet in length.
But the show isn’t confined to the water; there are also opportunities for landlubbers to enjoy, including culinary experiences inspired by kitchens from across the globe.
Getting to the show is easier than ever, with the new Brightline train offering convenient access from Orlando, and Water Taxis whisking attendees between sites for just $10 per day.
With ticket options ranging from one-day general admission to multi-day packages, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Miami International Boat Show. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or just curious about life on the water, this event promises an unforgettable experience.
