February 22, 2024Lionel Messi is playing his first full season in MLS this year, and his team, Inter Miami, is doing really well in 2024.
In their first game of the season, Inter Miami played against Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night and won 2-0 at home. This was a big deal because it was the first time Real Salt Lake lost an opening game since 2009, ending a 14-year streak of not losing in the first game.
Robert Taylor from Finland scored the first goal in the 39th minute, and Diego Gómez from Paraguay scored another goal in the 83rd minute, securing the win for Inter Miami. Messi helped set up the first goal with an assist, and Luis Suárez, who joined the club in December, also assisted in the second goal.
Last year, Inter Miami missed the MLS Cup Playoffs by just nine points. But this year, they’re off to a strong start with 33 games left in the regular season. Here’s when you can catch them playing next.
