Amidst the jubilant celebrations at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon when a shooting occurred near the victory rally, resulting in at least one fatality and 22 injuries, according to the police.
Patrick Mahomes, who moments earlier had been basking in the glory of Kansas City’s consecutive Super Bowl victories with his fellow teammates, took to X to share a message. This came less than an hour after Kansas City Police announced the apprehension of two armed suspects following the incident near the Union Station garage around 2 p.m. local time.
Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, who was present at the parade, took to social media to express his shock and sorrow over the shooting, labeling it a “heinous act.”
In a heartfelt message posted on X, the fifth-year player urged people to join him in prayer for all the victims affected by this tragic event. “Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act,” he wrote. “Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”
